Wow. I read this today on one of the forums and its great. Since I have so many thera-bands from my 2 rotator cuff surgeries I thought of using the grey one wrapped around the ankles. What a change in the kick. Same momentum with less outside kick and a quick recovery. My question is? Old school was to keep the hand recovery in the water. water level at forehead. Should I begin to dive in the water with my hands out of water and dive in with head going under keeping chin down. Thanks. |

Hi Calarco. Sounds like you're ready to jump into the 21st Century with your breaststroke:) Cool. I'm not sure I would describe it as diving into the water with the head. That description sounds like you might send your head too deep and end up going too far down and too far up on each stroke. The idea is to travel just above and then just below the surface. Take a look at some of the breaststroke drills on this site but, better yet, pick up a copy of Go Swim Breaststroke with Dave Denniston. Dave has a very "teachable/learnable" stroke and you'll get great visual images and good descriptions of how to swim breaststroke just above and below the surface. You can check out a trailer for the DVD at this link:
